As we thank God today for America, it's a good time to recall a speech given by Pres. Roosevelt, on Dec. 6, 1933, he spoke that day on the need for American families to be economically secure. He called his address: "The right to a more abundant life." Jesus Christ once gave a speech on the same subject, saying in (John 10:10), "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." The Bible teaches that God gives us abundant mercy, abundant provision, abundant kindness, abundant pardon, and abundant peace. It's a serious thing to neglect the abundant life God offers, as Moses warned in (Deuteronomy 28:47-48), "Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and gladness of heart, for the abundance of everything, therefore you shall serve your enemies." On this Fourth of July, let us be thankful and enjoy the abundant life He gives! To be a follower of Jesus, to know who He is and what He means, is to have a super abundance of life.
