Vision to help the poor and homeless...

Vision to help the poor and homeless...

1. Heart healthy food
(Read this article: Top 11 Heart-Healthy Foods http://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/11-top-heart-healthy-foods?page=1)
2. A lot of poor/homeless don't have places to cook canned/fresh food...so the answer would be gift cards for Boston Market, Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Wawa, and Panera Bread.
Gift cards for Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS are also helpful for personal items. Gift cards and cash for gas is helpful too, especially if they live in their car.
3. Some poor/homeless can't afford laundry facilities, offering to wash/return the clothes is extremely helpful
4. A lot of poor/homeless people aren't in good health, offering vitamins are helpful.
5. Many poor/homeless people are discouraged/depressed, A Kind Word helps, a cup of coffee, prayer helps, take them for a haircut, give a listening ear, and show them love!
6. If you've once been poor or you just want to give back or pay it forward to God, would you consider taking a soul into your home?

Remember one word, one kind deed, and a smile can change someone's day!
You can Save a Life before you Save a Soul!

RE: Saddleback.com Web Form Submission

RE: Saddleback.com Web Form Submission

Thanks for your inquiry. Pastor Rick has responded publicly to this question many times.

The rumor is called "Chrislam." Saddleback Church and Pastor Rick are not involved in "Chrislam" in any way. Pastor Rick is not the promoter of "Chrislam," the Koran is not placed in our worship center, we are not reading from the Koran, we are not interweaving the faiths, and have not taken down crosses. (We have crosses all over the church property—three on a small hill in front of the children's building; one atop the church building; and at our San Juan Saddleback campus, three fifty foot crosses are illuminated on a hill that commuters can see for miles.) Also, we are not a part of a "one world religion," are not "New Age," and Pastor Rick would NEVER deny the deity of Christ! We believe the Holy Bible is the only inspired, inerrant Word of God. Pastor Rick was quoted as saying in his interview with John Piper when asked if the Muslim God and the Christian God are the same, "My God looks like Jesus Christ…if your God doesn't look like Jesus then the God we worship cannot be the same….sorry."

You can also read what Pastor Warren says for himself below. This is an answer he posted in the comment section of a blog where others had attacked him:

"Several of the above comments are completely incorrect, based on believing 2nd hand false rumors instead of finding out the facts before speaking up. 'Only a fool believes all he hears.' Proverbs 14:15

"The so-called 'Chrislam' rumor is 100% false. If the guy who started this libelous myth, or anyone else who passed it on, had obeyed our Lord's command (Matt. 18:18-20) to come directly to me, and then asked what I actually believed - they would have been embarrassed to learn that I believe the exact opposite. As a 4th generation Christian pastor, my life & ministry is built on the truth that Jesus is the only way, and our inerrant Bible is our only true authority.

"As an evangelist, I spend much of my time speaking to non-Christian groups. You cannot win your enemies to Christ; only your friends, so we must build bridges of friendship and love to those who believe differently so Jesus can walk across that bridge into their hearts. Besides, it is not a sin, but rather COMMANDED by Jesus that we love our enemies. In the past 10 years, Saddleback Church has baptized over 22,000 new adult believers- simply because we express love to those who don't know Christ yet.

"It is nonsense to believe that you must compromise your belief or water down your convictions in order to love someone, or even just treat them with dignity. Jesus was called 'the friend of sinners' by the legalistic Pharisees because he hung out with (and clearly loved) unbelievers. I HOPE YOU will: 1) Always believe that EVERYONE needs Jesus as their Lord & Savior; 2) Have the courage to associate with nonbelievers in order to love them and bring them to the Savior; 3) Consider being called 'a friend of sinners' a Christ-like compliment; and 4) Refuse to pass on rumors until you've checked for the truth with the person accused. The false statements above should be removed."

We are an Evangelical church that believes in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as the ONLY way to reconciliation with God. We stand for the truth.

If you'd like to know more about Rick's sound doctrinal beliefs, you can check out his interview with John Piper at http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/john-piper-interviews-rick-warren-on-doctrine.

Thanks for following God's Word (Matthew 18) and coming directly to us for the truth!

Blessings,

Prayer of Hope

Prayer of Hope

Abba Father,

You promised that You would be with us wherever we go. You promised that Your angels would guard our steps. You told us to be strong and very courageous. Help us know the best plan you have laid out for our lives, You know the plans, the one that gives us hope and a future! Help us keep our eyes on Jesus whatever storm we are in. Help up not look at the hurricane winds or the stormy seas, but keep our focus on the Master who said "Peace be still"! Help us to be still, You told us to come to You all who are weary and heavy ladened and You would give us rest. Jesus gives us the rest that will heal our body, soul, mind and spirit. Refresh our spirits and give us the mind of Christ. Thank You for the Heavenly Armor that protects us. We aren't alone in this world, in this journey we call life, You gave us so much more that we haven't even imagined yet. Prayer for Homeless People

Prayer for Homeless People

Abba Father,

Hear our prayer today for all women and men, boys and girls who are homeless this day.
For those sleeping under bridges, on park benches, in doorways or bus stations.
For those who can only find shelter for the night but must wander in the daytime.
For families broken because they could not afford to pay the rent.
For those who have no relatives or friends who can take them in.
For those who have no place to keep possessions that remind them who they are.
For those who are afraid and hopeless.
For those who have been betrayed by our social safety net.
For all these people, we pray that you will provide shelter, security and hope.
Jesus, help us to see your face in the eyes of every homeless person we meet
so that we may be empowered through word and deed,
and through the means we have,
to bring justice and peace to those who are homeless. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Keeping families together is important!
"Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten."
– David Ogden Stiers

Isaiah 25:4

For You shall be A Refuge to the poor, A Refuge to the needy in his distress, A Shelter from the storm, A Shade from the heat.

Isaiah 58:7
I want you to share your food with the hungry people. I want you to find poor people that don't have homes, and I want you to bring them into your own homes. When you see a man that has no clothes--give him your clothes! Don't hide {from helping those people}; they are just like you.

Prayer of Love

Prayer of Love

Abba Father, You are the strength of my heart, thank You for delivering me from the bondage of fear, that I wasn't good enough for You to love me. I now realize that You Love Me and You made me Worthy to Be Loved! I'm Your child and I run to You, Abba Father and thank You for answering my prayers! You gave me Faith to Believe in the Impossible! Every little detail in my life that concerns me is Possible because of You! In Jesus Name, Amen!

Philippians 4:6,7. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

1 Peter 5: 6,7 "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."

Psalm 103: 1-5 "Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits – who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."

Psalm 100 "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."

Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."

Proverbs 16:9 "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps."

Jeremiah 17: 7,8. "But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water and sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

James 1: 2-4 "Consider it joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Matthew 11: 28-30 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Deuteronomy 33:27 "The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."

Psalm 9: 9,10 "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you."

Psalm 16: 8 "I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."

Psalm 46: 1-3 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and mountains quake and with their surging."

Psalm 36: 3-6 "Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this; He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun."

Proverbs 3:5,6. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

Matthew 6:25-27 "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

John 15: 4, 5. "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Psalm 34: 17-19. "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all."

Jeremiah 32:27 "I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?"

Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
