Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. (1 Tim. 6:17) Everything you have, God gave you, so don't "ego trip" over it! Enjoy all God gives you, but don't trust in anything but Him. It could all be gone in a day. Elijah discovered that when the brook dried up, God was still his source. The most important thing you've got is your relationship with God. Anything you put before that, you're going to lose! So what's this all about? Simply this: if your possessions are just a status symbol or a security blanket, then you've missed it. Jesus said, "Freely you have received, freely give." my greatest joy has not been what I've acquired, but what I've been able to give, and the problems I've been able to help God solve for hurting people. There is no greater gift than seeing someone else find God.
